As an Unreal Developer, I was hired to help optimize AJ Contrast's Still Here VR experience for a wider release on Steam and Viveport. Having seen the experience in-person at Sundance 2020, I was honored to be asked to work with their team on this project.
The 25-minute interactive VR experience follows Jasmine as she returns home after being locked up for 15 years, and includes a room scale 3D model of a real brownstone in Harlem. We consciously divided the house into ‘zones’ in order to restrict the viewers’ movements and choices, giving the viewer a glimpse into what it means to have their actions restricted in and out of prison. I collaborated with the team to optimize the project and prepare it for a successful release on multiple platforms.
